MacDevCenter.com: How to Record a Podcast

Want to create a podcast of a conversation conducted through the online phone service called Skype? This could be beneficial in a distance education course for these reasons: (1) Skype allows up to four people to talk at once, (2) it’s free (and doable as long as each party has a microphone and speakers hooked up to their computers, and (3) the conversation could be recorded (as explained in this article) and converted into a podcast for other students to listen to or for review of a previous discussion.

Podcasting with Your iPod Photo

Okay, here’s an idea for making Keynote (Powerpoint) files with audio narrations available to students. Convert your Keynote files into JPG files, create a series of audio recordings that are narrations of the Keynote (jpg) images, and then make both of them available on your podcast. As Wei-Meng Lee mentions in this article, “f Apple could build in mechanisms to synchronize the background music with the photos, that would be perfect!” Then the narrations would synchronize with the images. Of course, as you narrate, you could simply say “next slide” in order to tell the viewer to move to the next slide as they progress through the Keynote slides.

iSightEd — the eyes and ears of Education

Videoconferencing sounds like a neat thing to do. I doubt the technical side of it would be that difficult. Probably the most difficult part would be organizing the learning experiences and finding someone who is interested in participating.

Here are a few sites that relate to the videoconferencing:

Classroom Conferencing I think this site would be a good place to start to find other classrooms that are willing to participate in videoconferences.

Arbor Bits – iCamShare

need to produce a quick movie using your webcam? iCamShare, which costs $14.95, allows you to use your webcam. I haven’t downloaded the software to see what all of the features are but on their web page, they point out two things that are not available with the free software, GCam (http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/13240). iCamShare can *digitally* zoom your Firewire web cam (e.g., iSight) up to 300%, and you can trim off unwanted parts of the video at the front and end of the video.
