According to the site, “SimpleVideoOut X converts any QuickTime movie into a FireWire stream, regardless of whether it originated with your digital camcorder, your hand-held camera’s movie function…”O’Reilly: Exporting QuickTime Movies with Simple Video Out X

Imagination Cubed

This could be an interesting site to use in an early grade class. Or at the higher levels, you could have the students draw something more complicated (like mitosis) and then have then save it and send it (two features available at this site).

iSightEd — the eyes and ears of Education

Videoconferencing sounds like a neat thing to do. I doubt the technical side of it would be that difficult. Probably the most difficult part would be organizing the learning experiences and finding someone who is interested in participating.

Here are a few sites that relate to the videoconferencing:

Classroom Conferencing I think this site would be a good place to start to find other classrooms that are willing to participate in videoconferences.

As you know, Mac OS X allows you to create a PDF file from word-processing documents, HTML pages, etc. But do you ever need to go in the opposite direction? This product costs $29.95.

Arbor Bits – iCamShare

need to produce a quick movie using your webcam? iCamShare, which costs $14.95, allows you to use your webcam. I haven’t downloaded the software to see what all of the features are but on their web page, they point out two things that are not available with the free software, GCam (http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/13240). iCamShare can *digitally* zoom your Firewire web cam (e.g., iSight) up to 300%, and you can trim off unwanted parts of the video at the front and end of the video.

iSight in the Classroom

This is a good site that describes a variety of ways the iSight camera can be used in education. The author also provides many links to software that can be used to enhance the use of the iSight camera. One that I think would be particularly helpfulbut is not listed on his page is the iGlasses software – http://www.ecamm.com/mac/iglasses/
