Here’s a nice article that explains how you can create a podcast using Skype, the free Voice over Internet (VoIP), and other equipment to create a podcast. This might be an interesting thing to do in the area of Teacher Education program involving the interview of a in-service teacher.

I recently purchase Ecto (http://ecto.kung-foo.tv/), which allows you to quickly access your blog to enter new posts. One of the nice features about Ecto is that it allows you do special things like bullets, numbering, font styles, etc. I realize you can do this within your browser when you log into Blogger but unfortunately, those HTML features are not visible within Safari. They are visible within Firefox but for some reason Firefox keeps crashiing on me. Besides, I don’t want to have to open another browser.

Here’s some software that may be helpful. In Mac OS X, you can print probably about anything on your screen as a PDF file (e.g., Word document, HTML page, etc). If you have a variety of these documents or if maybe you want to combine one of your documents with a PDF that you downloaded, this program allows you to combine PDFs.

One of the difficulties I am having is teaching my online students how to use particular pieces of software or hardware since I am not meeting them face-to-face which would allow them to touch and see the equipment.
My son (6th grade) suggested I use iChat AV with my iSight camera to illustrate to them what they need to learn. Of course, I’ll have to instruct them on (1) how to set up an AIM account, (2) how to download the software (3) how to start up the program, (3) enter my username, (4) access the video portion, and (5) how to send me text messages. Of course, I could only do this with one person at a time so that is a disadvantage of this but it
is synchronous.
My thought is to put together a video and then either put it on the web or burn it to either a CD or DVD. Not synchronous but does avoid bandwidth limitations.
